Democrats Kenya is a new youth movement for a new Kenya. Unlike the main stream political parties, Democrats Kenya is a platform for the Kenyan youth to express their political opinion freely and assisting them to fulfil their democratic political ambitions. For the purpose of giving Kenyans a wider variety of choice, Democrats Kenya will encourage the youth to engage positively in politics and not to leave it for the current politicians.
Kenya has been recycling politicians despite their corruption, dishonesty among other serious crimes because there has never been a better choice. Voter intimidation, bribery and vote rigging has kept most of them in power. The cheap politics of divide and rule and preaching hate among Kenyans has also contributed to the failure of the democratic system. Democrats Kenya believes that there are better leaders amongst us and the only thing missing is how they can make themselves known to Kenyans without being harassed by the current greedy, selfish clout of politicians. It is very important that every Kenyan knows that he can be a member of Parliament, Prime Minister, Councillor or even President of Kenya. Currently, many just leave politics to certain families who run the country as their personal or family business.
There is no biological proof that certain families carry a special gene that makes them the natural leaders of Kenya. Instead, the leaders encourage their sons and daughters to engage in politics to guarantee the security of their public loot and most of the obviously follows their father’s foot step of grabbing anything they lay their hands on.
Democrats Kenya would like the positive minded citizens to join us in making the positive difference to our democratic values. Criticise what you think is not right without fear as there is no one to fight for us in parliament. We recently saw the government making deals on the table for itself on the draft constitution. They forget about the 38 million people and fight for what suits them for now. The constitution is for generations to come but they have turned it to be a PNU and ODM manifesto. The coalition government in Kenya has been dogged with in fighting for positions from day one of its formation. The mistrust is regularly seen in public and name calling on television is an every day occurrence. Instead of working for the people that voted them in, the trade politics day in day out. That is why we would like to send them home.
We have employed them to work for us but they rarely think of us unless it is election time. If I behaved like them one day at my work, I will not report the next day, but they steal from us, they misuse our taxes, they even steal public maize and oil with impunity and our school finances are not spared either and they are still employed.
We were told that we are leaders of tomorrow, that tomorrow starts today and therefore, its time you tell your MP that you want to apply for his job because my tomorrow has come and you can do better than him or her. It is worth reminding that, their contract expires shortly and the chances of renewal are almost nil. Your CV looks much better than his or hers even though yours is one page and his is 10 pages. It is better to have a one page clean CV other than 10 pages full of your evil past.
We have developed a section on this website where everyone can write messages to their MP with your polite views and the MP, if kind enough can reply to your messages. This is to give then some room of improvement to their constituents concerns as they never have time to see them after elections. We encourage the MP surgery so that they can serve the common mans interests where they can and by developing this communication channel, they will not have any excuse of not knowing what really affects voters in their area but do not be surprised if you dot hear from them as they do not welcome challenges. We feel abandoned by our elite politicians until 2012 when the body guards will not be required and we will have a chance to shake hands again and the cycle starts all over again.
We will definitely support the leaders who are reformist and particularly those who give priority to the following: New Constitution, Education, Health, Economy, Corruption, Security, Infrastructures, Social and public cohesion and Public Services. These among others are our key lines of concern and we will be addressing them with the Kenyans of good faith.
The politics of money must be eliminated for democracy to prevail in Kenya. We have good potential leaders who are poor and therefore can not be given a chance to work for their fellow Kenyan. Democrats Kenya will be a movement that will realise those leaders and bring them in to serve our country. We have gone through poverty and we know how it feels being discriminated against due to your circumstances but the leaders who have turned Kenya into a monarch have no experience of poverty. They were brought up in a comfortable, secure environment at our grand’s expenses and now we are the generation that takes care of their issues.
For how much longer? You decide...
